A royal expert says King Charles has only one way to get Prince Andrew to leave Royal Lodge as their property dispute continues.
Ingrid Seward, Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine, told Channel 5 that the King’s only option is to convince his younger brother to leave since, legally, Andrew cannot be forced out yet.
Speaking on The Battle for Royal Lodge: Andrew vs Charles, she said: “If King Charles wants Andrew to leave Royal Lodge, he will have to persuade him because legally, he can’t evict him. Andrew has a lease from the Crown Estate.”
The disagreement between Andrew and the King has been ongoing ever since Andrew stepped down from royal duties due to his connections with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and his disastrous Newsnight interview.
Since his fall from public favor, Andrew has rarely been seen, appearing only at key royal events like King Charles’ coronation in 2023. His physical and mental condition remains largely unknown, with only occasional reports. In late 2023, he canceled all public appearances after being linked to alleged Chinese spy Yang Tengbo.
One person who has spoken about Andrew’s life is his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. She has supported him in recent years while also dealing with her own health battles, including cancer.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, she said: “I was left to take care of a sad man, which is what I’m doing now.”
Although she didn’t name Andrew directly, many believe she was referring to him.
In a previous interview with The Times, Sarah spoke about their marriage: “I was completely in love with Andrew. I would do it all again, 100%. He’s a great man with a kind heart. Even today, I won’t let him down. He has supported me as much as I have supported him. We share the three Cs—communication, compromise, and compassion.”
Andrew and Sarah have two daughters, Princess Beatrice, 36, and Princess Eugenie, 34. It is believed that Andrew hopes to pass Royal Lodge down to them in the future.
