Sir Keir Starmer is facing criticism from some members of his party over several unpopular policy decisions.

Left-wing Labour MPs are demanding changes after many voted against cutting the Winter Fuel Payment for millions of vulnerable pensioners.

Earlier this week, MP Brian Leishman called for a wealth tax, following an open letter from 30 MPs and peers before Rachel Reeves’ tax-heavy budget late last year. Leishman argued that many MPs support redistribution through a wealth tax.

The Government may face more challenges if the SNP forces a vote on compensating the Waspi women, an issue gaining traction since Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall announced there would be no compensation. Labour backbenchers and opposition MPs expressed frustration, with some predicting growing dissent among MPs as time goes on.

Neil Duncan-Jordan criticized the U-turn on Waspi compensation, saying it damages public trust in politicians. Diane Abbott also attacked the Prime Minister, accusing him of being disconnected from the struggles of Waspi women due to his personal financial situation.

Meanwhile, some Labour MPs are unhappy with the Government’s response to the Gaza crisis. Radical MP Zahra Sultana accused the Prime Minister of ignoring genocide claims against Israel, citing actions like targeting civilians and blocking aid.
